The Joy of Six

08 December, 2018    Andy Rowe

It’s 6 of one and half a dozen of the other in the Ladies League……..So far this season 80% of all matches has finished 6-0.

Ringswell A top Division 1 with a healthy dozen point advantage after winning their last 3 matches 6-0.

The Ringswell team of Jess Hill, Claire Harrison, Marion Ginger and Sylvia Child brushed aside the challenge of Exeter 6-0, with all rubbers won in straight games.

Nikita Smethurst and Liz  Marker replaced Marion and Sylvia for the delayed inhouse derby against their B team, with an identical result  - 6-0 and all rubbers won in straight games.

The trio of wins in this fashion was completed against St Leonards, with Marion Ginger back in the team in place of Liz Marker.

Queens sit in second place after a comprehensive 6-0 win over Exeter A. The Preece sisters, Hannah and Sarah, accompanied by Leoni Bishop and Grace Lee were rarely troubled on their way to recording their second win of the season.

In Division 2, Chulmleigh were rewarded for the long drive to Sidmouth with a 6-0 win that has taken them to the top.  The Chulmleigh team (aka COB’s) of Michelle Wylde, Lorna See, Karen Parish and Fiona Marshall held their nerve in some tight rubbers, but eventually won the match without the need for  having to go to a deciding 3rd game.

The Sidmouth team of Grace Williams, Mo Borer, Helen Underwood and Hilary Herd bounced back to notch up a 6-0 win over Honiton, although Honiton could only muster 3 players.

Honiton put out a full team against local rivals Otters Vale B, but slipped to a 6-0 reverse. Helen Cavilla, in her debut for Otter Vale, impressed, as did her teammates Clair Ross, Anne Drury and Sue O’Brien.
