Chulmleigh are celebrating their first win of the season in Division 2a after the team of Amy Holland and Matt Hamill, Karen Parish & Adrian Bourner and Michelle Wylde & Paul Smith beat St Leonards C 5-4 in hard fought match, that saw four rubbers going to a deciding third game, Amy & Matt’s unbeaten display helped their team secure the win. The Otter Vale A team of Heather Rake & Brian Deem, Jo Smith & Daniel Clark and Teresa Simic and Mark Brown have beaten both St Leonards B and Chulmleigh. The 9-0 win over Chulmleigh may sound one sided, but Chulmleigh fought hard, pushing four rubbers to a deciding third game, they were unfortunate not to pick up a point. It was another close game for Otter Vale when they took on St Leonards B, with six rubbers going to a deciding third end, but aided by an unbeaten display from Heather & Brian, they emerged 6-3 winners. The St Leonards B team of Claire Hannah & Tom Phillips, Sharon May & Andy Rowe and Jess Hand & Phil Matthews beat St Leonards C by 8 points to 1 with Nicola Anslow & John Gubbin securing the point for the C team.
In Division 2b Honiton beat Cranford 7-2 with the Honiton pair of Janet Ingram & Ethan Leach winning all three of their rubbers and the other pairs of Helena Williams & Roger Tucker and Sue Caller & Sam Prangley winning two points each.
The Queens team of Bronya Pike & Jamie Roberton, Sarah Preece & Zac Phillips and Jackie & Ian Kirby beat St Leonards A 9-0 with all rubbers being won in straight ends to maintain their unbeaten record. It was a similar story when the Ringswell A team of Suzanne & Sam Owens, Claire Harrison & Nigel Osbourne and Becky Bailey & Callum Owens also beat St Leonards A 9-0. However, it is not all bad news for St Leonards A, deciding that the only way is up, they secured their first win of the season when the team of Louise Gubbin & Tim Wardale, Kay Brewer & Adrian Midmer and Sue Banks and Tom Phillips beat Exeter B 7-2. Kay and Adrian were the unbeaten pair for St Leonards, with both of Exeter’s points coming from Rowan Despard and Geoff Littler. Exeter A beat their B team 7-2 with Julia Melling and Mark Trebble unbeaten and Vicky Prouse & Steven Ford and Nikita Smethurst & Rob Flack each picking up two points. Rowan and Geoff were once again the pick of the B team winning both of their teams points.
