High flying Exeter C top Division 2

 High flying Exeter C top Division 2 after 3 impressive wins. They won a see-saw match 5-4 over Ringswell B, thanks to 2 wins from the pairings of Jack Southcott/Alex Bulley, John Collar and Tim Howard, with Tom Laver and Chris Bowker picking up the 5th and crucial point.

Exeter C ended Honiton A’s unbeaten start to the season with a convincing 8-1 win. Alastair Banks, in his first start of the season for Exeter, picked up 2 wins with Jack Southcott. Tom Laver/Tim Howard and Chris Bowker/Matt Whyman won all 3 of their rubbers.

Exeter C went one better against Otter Vale A with a 9-0 win.

Ringswell B sit in second place after wins over St Leonards B and C teams.

St Leonards B were on the cusp of victory at 4-2 up against Ringswell B, but Ringswell stunned the Saints with a brilliant fightback. This culminated in a last gasp win in the 9th and deciding rubber for Steve Faulkner/Richard Burn 21-16, 16-21, 22-20 over the Saints pair of Rob Price and Andy Rowe.

An unchanged Ringswell B team of Mike Yuan, Ben Boyland, Steve Faulkner, Richard Burn, Brian Jeary and Kieran Tsang defeated St Leonards C 6-3.

A hat-trick of wins has propelled Exeter D to top spot in Division 3a.

In their latest match Tom Laver and Edwin Choi played some great badminton to win all 3 of their rubbers and help their team beat Honiton B 7-2. Tom Bennett and Kevin Greenwell salvaged the 2 points for Honiton B.

Chulmleigh B beat Otter Vale B 5-4 to record their first win of the season. It was a team effort with Matt Older/Matt Rasch (2), John Down/Ashley Marshall (2) and Matt Adcock/Paul Smith (1). Otter Vale’s Andy O’Brien and David Williamson ended up on the losing side despite picking up 3 wins.

In Division 1, Queens A picked up their 2nd win of the season – a 9-0 whitewash of Sidmouth. Zac Phillips and Ian Kirby led the way with Lloyd Skinner, Callum Cheung, Alex Moir and Andy Brockie also on good form.

Sidmouth picked themselves up from this defeat to win 2 matches on the bounce, both with 5-4 scorelines. John Carter and Martin Schmidt won all 3 in the match against Exeter B, and Paul Owens and James Newcombe bagged a brace of wins.

They then beat St Leonards A 5-4 with the Carter/Schmidt pairing again unbeaten. The Saints new look pairings of Tom Phillips/Morgan Wright and Adrian Midmer/Chris Millen both won 2 rubbers.

Exeter A put out 4 reserves for their match against St Leonards A, but still came away with a 9-0 win. The Exeter team of Mark Trebble, Gareth Pearse, Sam Lees, Gary Bourner, Chris Luscombe and Steven Ford always had the upper hand although the Saints were unlucky not to salvage a point or 2 from the match.
